a lot of the Japanese rods are now going with contrary attachments on both the stripper and the next guide. I don't really know if it does anything re the second guide

I'm a fan of the really short bimini too, I have had issues with longer biminis catching on the stripper.
I think what I tie is the same as Neils finger bimini but without a cleat or fixed hanger.
Hold the mainline and tag end in one hand and spin the short loop with the other as per normal. Once I get enough turns in to the knot, I put the tag end between my teeth so I can then use one hand to hold tension on the mainline and the other on the loop end. Start with the loop end tight around 2 fingers then spread the loop by moving your fingers apart. If your fingers get too far apart, as in the loop gets too big, just pause and add extra twists to the loop end to tighten it down. Finish with a half hitch and rizzuto. Quick and easy
Hope this makes sense! knots are so much easier to see than to read about.

Cheers

I just went and tried it, Duncan. Boy, it takes some practice with the teeth but you're right, I've been able to get a really small double section. based on what you wrote below - do you actually do one half hitch first before doing the rizzuto?

I suppose it does take a bit of practice to get the teeth bit worked out but it does get quite easy once you have done a few. I suppose I am lucky with knots as I spend half my day demonstrating them to people so I get plenty of practice at them
I put a single half hitch around one leg of the loop It just holds everything tight in place while I muck around doing the rizzuto finish

I tried it last night and boy, securing it once sure makes it easier to tie the rizzuto. I tried the half hitch against one leg firsta dn then against both and it doesn't seem to make much difference. Is there a reason you tie it against one leg only?

Yes, I'd assume you get a lot of practice demonstrating the knots!!

Morning All.
Has any one tried twisting the bimini serveral times before tying it ie like a twisted leader but only with 5 or 6 twists ?? this will keep the loop closed.

Morning
I hope this is a bit easier to under stand. before you tie your Bimini twist, hold in one hand the section were the bimini will be, and in the other hold the end and twist this about 30 to 40 times.this can be made easier
if you tie a little loop in the end ,just enough for your finger, once you have done this fold back to make your loop for your bimini and tie the bimini as normal. once finished the loop should have several twists in it.
