Hammer-Head original GT rod.
November 14, 2008, 11:25:17 PM
Has anyone fished with this yet?

http://www.hammer-head.jp/frame.page.e.htm

Looks like a good all round popping rod:

Faube 77M+" (Purely made in Japan) comes with fleese made inner rod bag.
7.7 ft (2360mm), weight 385g (prototype), Line max: ~PE10, Lure max: ~180g.
Best match lures would be C~E-Cup and Shakure.
The final model's weight maybe 5g heavier.

180g lure weight seems pretty light for a PE10 rod.

I assume this would be something produced for Hammer-Head by Smith
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Surely they will have to produce a rod capable of casting the heavier and famous G-cup and I-cup bombs ??? ???

This rod is a similar spec to the Ripple fisher GT Flex I picked up recently.
Set the ray to GeeT

I was in Japan last month and had the privilege of meeting Yoshio-san (Hammerhead) where he loaned us the use of his 2 prototype rods. I also had the pleasure of fishing with Tsurusaki-san where he was using his Ripple Fisher. The 77M Hammerhead definitely resembles the action and build of the RF.

didn't you fish for something like three days for the grand result of one GT?!  :'(
Which Ripple was Tsurusaki using?

Hey Brandon, yep. 1 GT for 3-4 days fishing for 4 fisherman. Okay, Randy was mostly in the cabin. ;-)

We had dinner with Yoshio one of the evenings, and he had zero which made us feel slightly consoled.

I forgot what model Tsurusaki-san was using but it was 7'7" as well.

Was Randy sleeping, exasperated from the lack of fish, sick or all of the above?!  :D
From what I know, there isn't a 7'7" Ripple popping model although he may very well have had a full custom job.

Brandon, all of the above   ;) + choppy waves. Chugging was not very easy...

No idea about the RF rods. I am not familiar with the models.

Hi Brock - I will get around to a couple of them in time. probably work out what I want early next year. I've been waiting for a new blank to come out. I've no need to be in a hurry. To be realistic, I don't really need them. I'm very happy with my Carpenters
