The Zeebaas are from the people who ceated the Van Staal, from what I understand. All of these reels are seriously big bucks so if you want to get one, try to find one to test out if at all possible before committing to the purchase. I don't believe either Van Staal or Zeebaas makes a high gear ratio reel (I could be wrong) so they're probably best suited for jigging rather than popping applications.

if I had bottomless pockets, I'd get one just because they look so different. Unfortunately, I do not so I doubt I will be getting one. I had a good look at a Van Staal when I was last in Singapore. I was really surprised at how small the gearbox (the main body of the reel) of the reel was. It was also very tight, not at all like a Stella which feels silky smooth. If you think a Saltiga feels rough compared to a Stella, you won't beleive what a Van Staal feels like.

I understand they are supposed to be very low maintenance compared to a Stella or Saltiga but I really don't know much about the reel.

If someone would like to give me one, I would be happy to report back on how they perform!!   ;D

The Accurate Twinspin 30 was like that [tight] new, very 'agricultural' but you definately can feel the power. S for smooth - S for Stella.
The shimano Twinpowers are the smoothest reels I have ever had, but I wouldn't want to kill my TP6000 jigging, 20lb spinning / poppering no problem.

The old Mitchel Surf reel had a roller on side rather than Bail arm. Early 70's late 60's.   Bloody good Idea I reckon. Had mine for over 25yrs. Dragged in quite a few Large Butters, and Salmon off southern beaches b4 retiring the old girl.
I'd buy one tomorrow. If they brought them out again. Macka17
