Jigging Rod
March 22, 2007, 12:49:47 PM
Hi Guys,
Just wondering whats the minimum you can use as a jigging rod. Is it better to use a stroker or a longer rod, or does it have to be a specially made jigging rod.

Cheers Randy

you can use anything, Randy, but it is much easier to use something that is purpose built for it
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Short strokers are ok. But. A short  Parabolic stick works with you up and down .Fighting the fish. rather than the rod...
There's some  Daiwa Catalina's still kicking about. $250/260 ish. They a good jig stick up to about 50lb.       I use mine on 30..
I think the new  Saltist is the same blank. With a different name.
V-Fox. are another good. Value for money stick.  Japanese Boron.  Mfg'd by USA Rods... Similar price range. That I use with 50lb. Both with Saltist 30's. One, high spd.  one, low speed. Well balanced rigs. Without too much  expenditure.
I use those on O/P's boats. Keep the Saltiga's etc for on my boat.. (Not so many scratches).  Macka17
