Hi guys,

For those wanting to tackle little black marlin on surface lures (such as stick baits..for 'stick faced marlin') nows the time to be ready in South East Queensland.
The area of Hervey Bay has been inundated BIG time over the last month and there is a smattering starting off the ares of Mooloolaba to the Gold Coast as they head south on their annual migration.

just thought I'd share the news since they really dig stick baits in particular....be coooool on 80-120gm lures and PE2-4 gear.

Aaron.

Bun,
Ahhh the Billfish Bash...lotsa sails...lotsa Rum...lotsa good times  :)

The billies I have taken on sticks have all been on the troll, though with such great numbers around either switch baiting and casting a stick at them or casting around their favourite baitfish grounds will work for sure.

Glad to hear you are giving it a go  ;D

Go the 'Woody'!

Cheers
Aaron.

Nathan,
It's primed to go off right now, though the season lasts over until February.

Thats for the main migration...there are numbers until March usually.

Santosh,
They are pretty little fish at that size...and very cranky!
On light spin gear they are an absolute hoot!
Weather for Monday is looking good  ;D

The weather does look good for Monday but I got to work :'(
I'm hoping to get a shot on the gold coast a bit later in the season on some of my proto pencil poppers ;)

Alex,

There have been blacks tagged in 65m of water East of the Seaway over the weekend.
I suspect that the usual haunts such as Sullies off the 'Pin, the bait grounds off the Seaway & the 24 fathom reefs will have them right now.

There are fish being tagged off Moreton and North Stradbroke Islands as well.

Cheers
Aaron.
