Title: GT Rod blank 7 1/2 to 8 feet, any available?
Post by: 67er on February 25, 2008, 04:17:56 PM
Hi guys,

1st post!

Am in the market for a Moderate Fast GT Popping rod blank around 7 half to 8 feet butt joint. Will be using it to cast 100 to 150gm popper and set 8 to 10kg drag. What are my options?

Why blank? Because I prefer my reel seat to be lower than those off the rack rods. In this sense too fast a rod will be a problem (stiff rod and short casting handle can be a bad match IMO).

Thanks in advance.

Hi Yu Hock - welcome to the site. When you have a moment, can you please change you user name to you real name. We request that of all members here.

There aren't too many blanks available with what you're looking for. It's the butt joint that makes it difficult otherwise you have heaps of options. On that may fit the bill is a SEED PE5 popping blank. If I remember correctly, they have a blank about 7.5 feet long that is around PE5 and has a reasonably progressive action
