Title: GT 78 Flex - Damaged Guide
Post by: Tony Young on June 30, 2014, 01:38:35 PM
G'day
On a recent trip to Bougainville PNG I managed to get a line wrap around the second guide(from the tip) while casting into the wind.
One leg of the guide has been ripped out of the binding and the ring has cracked and fallen out. I would like to find the exact replacement guide but I don't know the model/part number, it has Fuji 20 stamped on the frame.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance,

Tony

It might depend a bit on the age of the 78Flex.

I am sure it will be a SIC guide probably Fuji MNSG or E-MNSG?  Posting a photo might help.

Thanks for the quick reply,
I purchased the rod in June last year, I think it was new stock. The guide frame is silver and I'll get a pic of it, I'll also search those part #'s.
Cheers

It appears to be an E-MNSG or a PMNSG in the 20mm size.

I believe P-MNSG is a bit more satin (like the polished stainless on a watch).

E-MNSG is a shiny bright chrome finish.

Comparing it to Fuji guides on my other rods (Saltiga, NS Blackhole) I would say its the satin PMNSG.

Thanks for your help Mark.

if it is a Ripple, it would be an E-MNSG

I am sure Brandon is right.

Thinking about it, my older Ripples have the MNSG type guide in dark mate grey finish (same as Carpenter used in that era).. can't remember the code.  And newer ones are E-MNSG for sure.

OK, I'll order an E then.

Thanks
