Post by: alexander nilsson on December 22, 2010, 12:08:04 AM
Hi guys

I have some big ass poppers here and need Hooks.

Here in Norway its a limit of 5/0 owner st 66 in size!

Anyone who can recommend a site with a good range of hooks and ability to send all the way to the top of the world, Norway..?

thanks

Alex

Try one of the forum sponsors Saltywater Tackle who ship worldwide and stock Owner ST76  - a fantastic GT hook.

Quite tough to find Gamakatsu Recorders online in my experience.

Owner ST76 5/0 trebels are pretty much the same size at the ST66 in the same size, just made a bit more heavy duty.  You can try big singles like Owner SJ41 13/0, Shout Kudako 7/0 or Fisherman Shiden 13/0 to use as baker (twin hook) rigs if you cannot find any big sized trebels. Most of the tackle shop sponsors here should sell these single hooks.

If youre wanting trebels, again, what size are you big ass poppers? You might need to go something like a Decoy GT 10/0 which are for big big poppers or Gamakatsu GT Recorders. It would also help to point you in the right direction if you let us know what kind of poppers you intend to use (size, weight etc) as to which hook we can recommend, as nearly all the manufacturers hooks differ in sizes. A 5/0 ST66 will be a bit bigger than a 5/0 Decoy for example.

Get ready to apply for a bank loan to buy Gamkatsu Recorders, if you can find them on line that is :).

Unless you are planning to use real monsters, there are probably not too many poppers out there which need bigger than a Owner ST76 5/0. Don't use the ST66s though which are almost the same size as Chuen Fan rightly points out, but use a much finer gauge steel - a big GT will wreck a ST66.

Or you could try the new Shogun Extreme Trebles.
We have been using these over the past 6 months and have nothing but praise for them.
Size and shape is very similar to Decoy GT Special, and just as strong too!
On our website under Terminals
