Title: Whitsunday GT's
Post by: Johan Barnard on May 31, 2011, 09:07:04 PM
Ok, no luck with Bowen tips.
I'll be chasing some Gt's around the whitsunday islands first week in july (weather permitting).
Any tips will be appreciated.
Regards

Hey Johan, I think you'll find plenty of good advice regarding the whits using the search function. ;) Hours of reading and good info.

I dont live there but i wish I did.

I'll be there too! Doing exactly the same thing :)

I'll be in a 20' Scout Boat. If you see me, tell me if you've found any fish! lol

fished up there many times over past few year & lived there for couple months too. Never bumped into a solid GT but caught plenty of decent Spannish. Only bit of advice i could offer would be the old addage "no run no fun"

Stop in and see Bob Spees at Whitsunday tackle and he will give you all the info you will need. GTs in the whitsundays do see a few poppers so long casts are the go. If you can get to the reef you will have heaps of fun
