Hi
I'm fairly new to this sport and curious to hear from experienced anglers whether most gt hits are at the head/middle hooks or the tail hooks?
What's the average ratio? About 30% head/ 70% tail hooks?

Depends on the day but i would say they bite more middle and front. They have a massive mouth compared to the lures they eat so its only an assumption ::)

I would say that with poppers and stickbaits, the majority of the hook-ups I have received over time have been on the belly hooks. The exception are with pencil poppers where the very large majority have been on the tail.

Cheers, thanks for the responses.
I was using the adhek goby in a day trip and caught two gts on the back assist hook.
Only the red bass seemed to go be attracted to the belly hooks (baker rig).
I love how they inhale the surface lures.

You love the way the GTs or the red bass inhale the lures?
I hate red bass!! There have been times when I have wondered if there is anything else in the water because every lure is engulfed by a school of them

The world's tiniest red bass stole my popper from the mouth of a huge maori wrasse....I want to move on, truly I do, but I can't. I hate red bass!!

I am still laughing about this!! ;D

seems like predator likes to hit head/body first?
can red eyes have effects too?
cheers

I'd say more body hook-ups for sure. Most fish are aiming for the head. Can't beat a red head popper.

I will say middle for chuggers
GT seldom miss their targets :P
Swim bait and stick bait sometimes tails depends on how u work it.
Tks
