Title: If you could only.....
Post by: John Cahill on December 28, 2012, 07:08:30 PM
If you could only have one GT popping outfit and one GT stick bait outfit, what would they be?  Any location world wide so not for a location specific or specific sized fish, pretty broad question I know, but if you had just the one choice for each what would you go for?  Only limitation would be PE 8, as I cant see me fishing heavier.  Time to get the wish list happening.... thanks for any responses!!!!!

Bugs biting hard come to mind Mr Cahill :) :) .

For me:

Chugger rod - Carpenter MH80H as I don't fish really big chuggers (170 grams +) too often.

Stickbait rod - Carpenter Endless Passion 82/38.

If only one rod, I would agree with Jon - DJ83MH.

These things are very personal though John.  Having seen the way you fish, I reckon MH80H would be fine for you.  For stickbaits maybe a shorter rod like Coral Viper 79/40.

And just so you know, that green and gold custom rod you have used and purred about many times is a Carpenter SP80M.

Stick bait rod for me the zanaq fokeeto 83/7 is great, its no carpenter or ripple for weight or lack of it but it proved its worth on the GTs in Bali.
For poppers I like the GT 78 flex but would like a little stiffer rod next or just get another rod to work bigger poppers like a tokara 60 or fisherman TRSH

If only one rod to do all then a Monster Hunter 80H with Stella 18k.

Kyle, I know someone with a Tokara 60 (Weave Model) for sale.

Cheers

Les
