My friend has a 98 stella 10000 and is looking for more capacity.
Does anybody know if a 98 16000 spool will fit this reel.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Darren ,
I have both STL10000F n STL16000F each with 2 extra spools and are still my favourite reels over the STL10000FA , the spools aren't interchangeable due to different travels up and down the shaft , the only way for more capacity is to go with thinner line . Hope this helps .

My friend also loves his 10k.

Hi,
It seems to me 98' Stella is the blue version, which is 10000FA version or SW10000HG for jdm.

STL16000F was the previous series, silver colour:

But spare spool for SW10000HG and SW20000HG for jdm reels was a spool SW16000, which is fully OK for 10000FA and 20000FA reels. This spool has gold colour:

This spool SW 16000 has reference SC 79R, and contains 300m with PE 6 braid
diameter of the spool is slightly bigger than original 10000FA spool, aroud 7cm, which provides (with full spool) a 132cm retrieve for 10000FA (6.0 ratio) or 99cm for 20000FA
hope this helps,
cheers,
Alexandre

Alex ,
The so called '98 Stella is the F series , an improved version of '95 series . Meanwhile the blue one is FA series which in Japan is called the '01 SW series while the latest one is '08 SW series .

Jon,
of course you're right! I mixed up 98 series with 01... time is going so fast! :)
Sorry for the confusion
