Title: Rod to reel matching help
Post by: Simon Bradley on September 14, 2021, 05:18:04 PM
Pretty new to the land of GT fishing,  and need help matching the rod and reel with the style of casting.

I have the following Shimano rods and reels, and am trying to decide whether the lighter reel is better matched to the Stickbaiting rod or the Popping rod:

Saragosa SW-A 14000XG reel with 300m 80lb Braid
Saragosa SW-A 18000HG reel with 300m 100lb Braid

Terez TZS79STK 7'9" Stickbaiting rod
Terez TZS80GT 8'0" Popping rod

I'm leaning towards the lighter reel for the heavier casting weight of the Poppers, but want others thoughts on this.

Mate welcome to GT fishing.
Buy once, cry once i say.

ROD: Get yourself a RF, Zenaq or Carpenter, or 2.
REEL: Saltiga or Stella 18000H for me.
