Title: First time with GT: Question about rod and chugger
Post by: Dao Le on May 06, 2015, 03:57:51 PM
Hello,

This is my first time to the sea. I have a value popping rod of 2m4 in length, its says for 100-250g lure, max 20kg (HR SYS240H2). GT in my area are not so big, 10kg ~ 15kg, even smaller

I have a couple of questions need your help:

Can I cast 60g-80g chuggers? Or, should I use 100g and up?

The same question for stick-baits, or I need a new rod with lower lure weight rating?

I'm on a light setting with PE6 on a Shimano Aceration SW8000PG Max drag 12kg

Thanks a lot,

look at rod specifications as guidelines not hard and fast rules your rod won't explode if you exceed or go under the recommended cast weights it'll just perform differently.

Understood. That means I should use 100g chuggers and up for better action, not the 80g lure. Thanks Cameron!
