Title: Braid to braid join knot
Post by: David Noble on March 11, 2008, 08:08:39 AM
What is the best knot to join braid when topshotting / joining line?
On the weekend jigging I got an unfortunate braid knot in 100m of water, on a brand new spool of line.   :-\

I'm yet to try and undo the 1 mega tight little loop knot keeping it all verging on either tears or joy!
Really don't want to get the knife out..ouch.

cheers Dave

Bimini doubles in both and loop-loop might work as long as you are not trying to fire out casts (so the doubles dont snag your guide).

Catspawed Bimini's would be best, but if you do have to, I would take your whole line off and reverse it so that the join is closer to the arbor of the spool - you probably won't even see it.

Sometimes you can simply pull out some of these knots with a heap of pressure, but if they don't pull out there is usually no saving it because you have compressed it so much.
