Title: FG method
Post by: Alex Gomez on June 22, 2015, 11:16:59 PM
I was previously using the nomad FG knot method from Youtube but saw this and thought it looks even easier. because of the tension on the main like it cinches very neatly. I do more half hitches though.

Alex,

There's 2 or 3 effective way of tying the FG. What's important is that you find the one that works for you and practice, practice, practice.

I also tie alternating half hitches both on the leader and the main line but lots of guys don't.

Whatever sytem you use, those wraps have to be pulled up TIGHT so they bite into the leader. As an indicator, I look for the braid to 'plasticize' and go opaque.

Enjoy, great knot.

Thanks Trevor,

Yes I suppose this one is just a bit more straight forward to tie for me when I'm on shore, the nomad method I saw is actually easier if bobbing around at sea.
