Re: Twisted Leaders: Instructions + Diagrams

I put together a tutorial in 3 parts for another site.

Some alternative rigging methods.

I split the video into 3 parts.
- Part 1 is the twisty part.
- Part 2 is the Bite leader
- Part 3 is the loop 2 loop

Keep in mind that I do not claim any responsibility for inventing this, in any way. I took info from many people and places to include Sami @ Saltywater and some folks at GTpopping.com. I will say that I have tweaked it to the way I like it and have tested many varieties of construction and settled on this method for MY interests, FWIW.

Section 1 is ready for viewing here:

Section 2 will be ready momentarily. This is the bite leader section.

Section 3 - Loop to Loop connection

This topic must be over 5 years old...so we always value contribution and variation to the system  :)

Thank you for your input!

Any anglers out there willing to sell some twisty leaders?  Honestly,  I don't have the time to sacrifice making these.  Looking for a few to target large GT.  I'll pay a fair price and shipping.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,
You can always buy them local without bearing the shipping cost, if you have something specific in your mind let me know and will make it happen for you.

Arnout,

I've made a few as well recently using all the information here, so you can teach an old dog new tricks

It's not rocket science and very effective.

Hello Trevor,

Like a lot of things it looks difficult but in practise it is easy when you
try it a few times.

Do you use them with hollow line or do you connect the twisty with a allbright knot
to a braided line?

Best regards,

Arnout.

I, personally, don't use hollow although its becoming more and more popular.

I form a double with a bimini twist and use a catspaw to connect the twisty to the double.

Trev

This link is to Sami Ghandour's instructions to make and rig twisted leaders and connect them using loops in hollow braid rather than a bimini but the same principle applies (frames 16 to 22 relate to the catspaw connection):

http://www.saltywatertackle.com/lines/saltywater-tackle-twisted-leader-system-580.html

Notice that the braid loop bites into the loop on the twisty rather than doubling back on the braid as appears in many knot diagrams. Make sure that the legs of the 'paw' exert even pressure on both sides of the mono loop when snugging down the knot.

Regards,

Trev
