Title: Which setup in the shallows of the GBR?
Post by: Peter Olesen on October 15, 2017, 05:01:07 PM
Hi guys

As many of you have fished the GBR it feels like the right place to ask.

I have booked a trip to Bligh Reef next year. The fishing in the shallows looks spectacular. But I'm not sure which setup to use there. I do have Blue Sniper 77/3 but am I better of with a PE5 setup?

Thanks in advance!

Peter

Yes, you are. The bigger reefies will do terrible things to PE3 tackle

I would go with the PE 5 gear, as long as it can cast the smaller lures u may want to use.
Or take em both

I took a PE5 outfit on my recent trip to Osprey Reef. The bigger reefies gave me a beating!!  :'(

Thanks Brandon.

I guess one will get punished no matter what 😀

Stepping up to PE6 is definitely not going to happen

The big reefies will give you an enormous amount of grief on GT tackle! Problem with fishing shallow reefs
