Hi
Does anyone here have experience jigging for large groupers, 40kgs+ in 40-80 meters of water. I expect that getting them away from the bottom will be the "hard job".

I have targeted these fish in slightly deeper water around 100-120m, they can be stopped but only if the angler has the correct gear and is up to the job.

Hi Andrew
That sounds interesting, what tackle did you use?

We are using specialist jigging gear reels made by Jigging Master and rods by Jigging Master or Jigstar, we prefer to use overhead reels with a low ratio and plenty of drag as it is easier to get these larger fish of the bottom, 80lb braid minimum but 100lb is more suited with around 130lb leaders, I will reply to your PM now.
