Title: Jigging with SW TwinPower 8000HG - advice needed
Post by: David DeCourcy on May 23, 2012, 10:05:33 PM
Hi all

due to budget constraints  have to pair my Jig wrex ax S526 with my SW TP 8000HG. veterans recommend a PG reel but can't afford to buy a new reel now since my budget has gone into upgrading my popping setup.  I'll spool the reel with 50lb test varivas jigging braid and use 200-250 gm jigs.

does a HG reel require a different technique while jigging? please help.

You'll do just fine with that setup David - its a great high speed jigging combo.  Just stay away from the 10,000 and 12,000 spools with the HG reel (they are a little quick for jigging) but the 8000 works well.  Should be a breeze with 250 gram jigs..........go hard!

Thanks a ton Peter..... ;D

especially about the 12000 spool which I was considering since it would give additional yardage. I'll stick to the 8000 spool, should get 250m varivas jigging 10x10 PE4 (50lb) on it hopefully.

You might even get a little more than that David, dont be surprised if its closer to 300m!

Enjoy.
