What are your goals for 2010?
Places to fish...
Next class up to improve on your PB...
Other species like Yellowfin or SBFT...
Let us know your plans :)

Got a couple of good trips lined up this year.
Fiji in March with 'Bun' Burt and then Elusive Reef with Nomad in June.
No real goals (although to crack a 40kg GT would be very nice)....Just hope the weather is kind and the fish are on the bite.

I am heading to Florida in May to chase big tarpon in shallow water on fly, it keeps me awake at night :o 2 weeks guided..
So my aim is to sight cast a big Tarpon. Another aim is to have a good season on the longtails about to invade moreton bay. Its hard to quantify "good" due to weather, fish numbers and life in general. But I'd hate to get to the end of the season and wish I'd fished harder.
My GT aim is to get a 40kg specimen in SEQ.

To be at work less....
How about a 120cm Barramundi, a 30KG Spanish Mackeral, and to catch a decent Coral Trout in my local waters on a popper.
Then theres a Nomad Elusive trip in July and the ABT Barra tour in November.
-
Last week a big Gt was caught on a reef i often fish in northern NSW. I want a GT from the same spot.
-
To save some money - so the goal is to get the most out of the gear I have (except maybe buy a jigging reel..), focus on local destinations in my boat (not too hard as some of our local destinations are the ones people travel a long way to fish ;)) and make some lures.
As far as GT captures go though i'd love to stop one of the buses that live up at Shoalwater.
-
Well I'm not sure at this point whether I'll be able to go on any trips this year as I need to buy a 4WD and save for a boat which I will hopefully get at the beginning of next year some time. I'd be stoked to crack a 40kg GT, and if that's locally then even better.

On the uncontrollable side, to get good weather and a hot bite for my trip to Bugatti :D
On the controllable side, to learn to tie a good and fast FG knot
-
Will hopefully achive one of my goals in May as I am heading to New Caledonia & would like to catch my first Gt.Oh & a Coral Trout would be nice too.
-
My major goal is to try and balance GT fishing with work and family - Like now i'm at work and all i'm thinking about is GT fishing. Tonight i will be at home and all i will be thinking about is GT fishing. To find some balance with that would be good.
This GT world has destroyed some of the things i would have been normally quite happy to discuss. So i am to at least try and sound interested when i hear people talking about fishing for snapper or flathead. (I do feel sorry for these lesser fisherman!)
Also a goal is to fashion a rod support/pad type thing. Will post some images when i start.
-
No 1 goal for this year is to just go fishing with mates as much as possible for whatever is available at the time ;D
No 2 is to get a bloody stickbait on the market (no it's not ready yet ::))
-
It best be ready for Elusive Reef in July Chris ;D ;D
-
Catching my first GT at St. Brandons in April.
Plus:
Fishing pretty much around the clock during our 8 days live-aboard in April to try and catch Coral Trout, other Trevally-species and whatever species roam the reefs over there.

Don't pressure him Rob, he nearly lost the plot making 'Lara' last year (http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd207/bunzo51/Smileys/smiley36-1.gif)

Break the 100 lb mark with AJs, and get my first Bluefin tuna...this is my first serious year popping and jigging.

Pete said it for me ;D, although :-\ adding a Jigging trip to White Is [NZ] would be nice ;)
-
Catch my first Gt, 20kg plus would be nice. I'm heading to Samoa in April for a full year.
Hopefully get to know the locals and they might show me around the place and help me out with this goal.
A Yellow Fin Tuna on popper and Dolphin Fish would be great also.
Getting a few waves would be great also

This year I'm keen to have another run in with several GTs that left me for dead in 2008 - all well above 70kg....maybe one was over 80kg. Truly amazing stuff - the holy grail for a GT fisherman.
Aside from GT fishing...
Hope to nail a 50kg+ YFT on stickbait...
A Wahoo of any size on stickbait or popper...
A Dolphin Fish/Mahi Mahi over 25kg on stickbait...
-
jig jig for doggies, catch a 40kg+ GT, a meter barra on 4 pound :-) oh and find myself a 1 week on 1 off roster to do more fishing

New Caledonia mate.
Always a spot available - how's this year looking for you? ;)
Ps I also need a bonefishing partner while over there!
-
Cauht my first Bonefish on fly 3 weeks ago and have been fishing for tarpon every night so I want to crack 80lb tarpon on fly and an 8lb bonefish. Got 3 months before the boat goes through the Panama canal and up to San Diego so might try for a 80lb rooster on a popper too.
-
50kg gt (got my 40kg model last year)
60kg+ Dogtooth on jig (trolled 50kg but that does not count)
And like many others, hope to broaden to include more species on popper and jig especially large pelagics.
Have enough gear.......hang on might be wrong about that.
Good luck to all.

Hook a barrel of a tuna over 100klo on my popping rod ;) :) :) ;) ::)

Visit the montebello islands one more time this year at least

My goal this year is to catch a GT in the Arabian Gulf.

Hi All Earlier on in this thread I said that my goal for 2010 was to catch my first GT.Well on a trip to New Caledonia last month that is what happened.Fishing with Eitenne Picquel & crew around the Ouano & Nekweta for 4 days I managed to catch my first two GTs.The fishing was very slow & we had to work hard for any fish raised, but it all paid off in the end with two fish that I am extremely happy with.My goal now is to get back again in 2011 & get some bigger ones.Cheers Michael.
