Can you please tell what is the differance between the black and silver GT, and the best way to est the weight , Thank you  Ian

I think the blacks are generally males and silvers are mostly females. There is some stuff on wikipedia about Sexual dimorphism, but from what i read the blacks are more mature fish and mainly males.
IGFA would be the best place to find out about est the weight. I think the most common way is to take all the measurements and use them against previous caught fish that have been weighed. You obviously need a good back log of previous caught fish though.

I think Sam is on the money   and generally when they appear so dark they are in a courting mood and are in the presence of a female .Seen it numerous times when diving

That males in courtship mode point might also explain why the very dark GTs seems to be the feistiest fish?
