I have been lucky enough to get in to a Carpenter seminar, to be held here, in Auckland, on the 5/02, Mr Konishi will be giving the talk about his adventures, and of course his tackle, if you had the chance to ask just one question of Mr Konishi, what would it be?
-
mmmm, One question????
Would you like a beer mate? ;)
-
no, he wouldn't have a beer
-
Brandon, should we ask him whether he scares tori!?!
-
No - that is a bad idea because he will know for sure where that came from! ;D
By the way, David showed me what type of bird it was. It really was not very big at all
-
I'd like to know how I can get a job as cool as his. ;D
-
To right John, I would love to know how to get a job like that, :), but I dont want to embarrass him with anything like that, no Tori questions ;D
-
I'd ask for a time line from when he started building rods and designing lures, to becoming a surface lure fishing God that he is!
A bio.........that's #1 for me and I'd be thankfull for any Gamma donations too ;D
-
"Could you please make more lures so us mere mortals get to fish with them".
-
"hear hear" to Marks question ;)
-
I think Mark has got it there ;D, we need more carpenter stickbaits to practice with
-
Brandon,
You should suggest that the next new lure released by Carpenter be called ..... ' Tori '
Pete
-
I'd probably ask him if he would ever consider adopting a wolly headed South African who is more than willing to be his bag carrier and "Tackle Tech" ( Guitar Legends have Guiter Tech, why not a tackle tech?? ) and get to come along and learn from him...
Mark's question would be my next one...
And I guess one that one might actually get an answer for is trying to find out from him how and when he knows when to change a lure, or work it a certain way to turn fish on.... then again, thats probably a pretty difficult thing to explain!

so basically 'Dre, you just want to be his "roadie"?! ;)
God only knows what a body search would reveal to customs officers when you're on your way back home. ;) "No sir, it's a Sea Frog"
But seriously, I would actually ask him what the secret is to the apparent magic of his Gammas. No chance of even getting a response on that one I suppose. 8)

Angus,
I thought you'd put your hand up for his artist!
As for your Gamma question, I think you would be blocked by my attempts to steal the patent for it!
Aaron.
-
Aaron, I'm not much good with Gyotaku printing mate!
-
Angus,
I thought you would see past any artistic underdevelopment and just launch at the chance!
Crikey, I can't sketch or paint and I would have a crack at it!!!!!!!!!!
Aaron.

I'd be interested to know what his rig is for nz kings, bluefin tuna, and gt's for different types of lures and his techniques for working stickbaits
-
I would be keen to ask about his personal views on where popping will be in 5 years from now ...
-
If he could be my Facebook friend :P.
-
I would ask...when will he start producing the BC75MLR again? I am tired of looking. :(
-
Bwanna, that is an extremely popular model. I expect it should be on the production schedule again before too long
-
That's a good news. I am hoping so...Thank's Brandon
-
you should speak to one fo the various Carpenter agents to ensure you get one when they are released though
-
Yes, we have been discussing about the rod and I have booked 1...

Gotta say this is probably the most valuable question that Konishi-San will actually be able to impart an answer for... the rest of the stuff I want to know I think is something that can't be explained, as its pure natural talent, added to 1000's of hours spent chasing his quarry...
Angus - Too right bro, being his roadie would be epic!!! No doubt I'd get into shape too carry all those prototype rods all over the world.... I could put on my resume " Sea Frog Smuggler & Gamma Gangster" 8)
-
Thanks you guys, got a couple of questions I will ask Mr Konishi if I get the chance, 1st will be what he concentrates on mostly when using a Gamma, ( thanks Brandon ) 2nd will be what are the different rigs he would use for NZ King`s, YFT, and GT`s, ( thanks Gavin )
Should be a very interesting evening.

Ask Tony [YeeHaa] if he is allowed to tape it, a lot of very interested people.
-
Hey all. The session was taped and I would recommend seeing it - I have learned more about topwater fishing in 2 hours with Konishi San than I have learned in years of trial and error! And I managed to get my hands on a Carpenter Bluefish to take home (don't tell the wife!!!). Thanks team YEEEHA.
-
Where can we check out the taped sessions?
-
Call the guys at YEEHAA on (09) 5705058 - they will know
