Fins IGFA braid, comes in 20 30 50 80 130lb
20-80lb come in 500yd spools
30-130lb come in 1200yd spools
Only a little bit dearer than std Fins

Braids and the companies making them are cloaked in mystery, but really they are an incestuous bunch, all are buying the raw material, delivered to them as spools of white thread, from 2 or 3 manufacturers woldwide!!
Braid, spectra, dyneema it's all the same thing.
Without getting too long winded the reallity is simple, if it's thin it will break low and if it's thick it will break high. If the market demands thin braid, like the japanese, it will invariably break well under, the opposite view, like our yank friends, will see the stuff mostly break way over as diameter is not an issue with them.

True IGFA would be possible , but the weavers (line manufactuers) have no control over the real strength of the threads they braid with, so the line would have to be well under line class to have a hope of passing all the time.
In a nutshell IGFA braid is really a joke, if you want to claim records stick to mono for the time being.

Neil, its not the record thing, it's that Cam enters comps in NZ where he can jig with braid as long as its IGFA rated.

Hi Greg

In that case use a braid which claims IGFA on the spool, the guys in NZ will probably believe it.

Cam I had heaviest kingfish weighed one day in the houhora one base on braid. weighmasters card said 60kg line class as they have no way to accuratley test the braid they will often put you into the heaviest line class.
Go on the fishing.net site and pm "weighmaster" about fishing braid in comps

Neil - based on what you have written - can I take it then that something like Varivas GT 130lb may not be 130lb at all but that something like TF XP 100lb will probably break above 100lb? Looking at them side by side, the TF looks like a thicker braid notwithstanding that its 100lb
