does anyone have have any experience with the new SOM Blue Heaven L120 Hi or Lo?
looks the goods, massive straight cut gearbox and the double anti reverse bearings rated to 50kg+...not a fan of the cork drags but apparently a relatively easy swap to carbontex (accurate washers are an almost straight fit)
Also where to buy? local distributor has canned the brand, too expensive/not enough demand
really like the look of it for jigging/bottom bashing the reefs off cairns, for everything including doggies out on the banks

Yes have one already and have used it on the Samson this season. I have the Hi version with the knob handle. A t-bar handle is better suited to jigging and in my case i changed the handle to a t-bar handle. I got my t-bar handle custom made.
The performance of the reel is far better than the last one and the drag is good.
This is the reel for jigging and it has been purposed built for hard fishing.
The reel is expensive and there are no dealers in Australia stocking these reels.
Overall I rate the reel 9/10, the handle on the Hi version let's it down. The low version has a t-bar and the t-bar is superb.rating on the Lo version is a 10/10.
Hope this helps.
