Title: How short is too short for 250-500m?
Post by: Jamie Moir on September 19, 2011, 04:15:17 PM
Hi,

anyone game to comment here?

My old PE8 jigger was total misery in +250m, it was just too long @ 5'8". Currently I'm using a Synit Seriola Pro and thats 5'2" and ver manageable. My pal has a JM PS rod, similar rating and length, and is finding it too long, he is a bit of a shortarse though ;)

He is currently thinking about cutting down a calstar graphiter 4'10"  down to 4'2" *eek*

Anyone else using a shortened jap blank? Which one?

Ta,

Jamie

Hi Jamie ,

For MC Works , their shortest rods they have is 4'8" in overhead reel configuration n 5'1" in spinning reel configuration while for Carpenter , their shortest rods are 5'2" in overhead reel configuration n 5'5" in spinning reel configuration . MC Works rods n Carpenter rods are totally different in characteristics which include actions , stiffness , etc. .

Jon .

The Smith Mariana 200 and 300 at 4'4" are specific deep water jigging rods, see FishHead.

Yeah seen those smiths, bit light though, only rated to PE4? We're dropping jigs 400-600g too.

Anyone used a Synit cut down to 4'10"? Which ebnd did you cut  >:(
