I am not sure about Charters but have seen some recommendations at http://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/hawaiian-fishing/ (http://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/hawaiian-fishing/)  and old but still up to date answer at http://www.thehulltruth.com/archive/t-192951.html (http://www.thehulltruth.com/archive/t-192951.html)  I did charter out of the North shore on the Foxy Lady a while back with good results (Knew the Captain as a kid ) Top notch guys http://www.chupu.com/index.php. (http://www.chupu.com/index.php.)  Most guys sell there catch to cover costs.   You normally get to take home some fish.  Try to find one that is interested in making you happy and not just putting around.  I would definitely go off recommendations you might find more guys chime in later.

As far as fishing stores most are small and packed php being the exception as it is commercial and lots of trolling stuff.  There is a popular restaurant next to it. Brians and Charlies are more for whipping/baiting.  http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&rls=en&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=brian's+fishing+supply&fb=1&gl=us&hq=brian's+fishing+supply&hnear=0x7c006a3fb7d103bf:0x2449dc92d6d8dbf2,Kaneohe,+HI&cid=0,0,15959330996065980785&ei=-y49T-CAOeeeiQK7uty2AQ&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&ved=0CA0Q_BI (http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&rls=en&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=brian's+fishing+supply&fb=1&gl=us&hq=brian's+fishing+supply&hnear=0x7c006a3fb7d103bf:0x2449dc92d6d8dbf2,Kaneohe,+HI&cid=0,0,15959330996065980785&ei=-y49T-CAOeeeiQK7uty2AQ&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&ved=0CA0Q_BI)

Here's a site where they list some charter's:

www.hawaiifishingnews.com (http://www.hawaiifishingnews.com)

you want to look at charters on the Island of Oahu, Kewalo Basin is close to Honolulu/Waikiki

Good luck

Not sure if this is too late or not, but look into the Sea Verse III with Captain Lee Severs out of Kewalo Basin. Best charter captain on Oahu. Boat's a little old and battle-worn, but DEFINITELY a proven fish-catcher.
