Ive got some Spotters with the Bronze Photochromic lens. These are awesome in dull overcast conditions and also bright conditions.

Cheers

1 Maui Jims.
2 Hi Def Specs
3 Costa Del Mars
4 Spotters

Thats my pick out of 8 years in optics with polarization being a noble hobby :)

Please bear in mind, the frame fit is vital, so to is YOUR interpretation of colours and what you are comfy with.....Try before you buy if possible or have a strong return guaruntee where possible.

As one of the 4 eyed brigade I need Fit overs, the 'Fitover' brand are good but the 'Ugly Fish' are the most comfy, they look good too.

Still have my Revo but now not wearing contacts when fishing anymore so don't use it much , prescription polarized glasses is the way to go nowaday .

Jon,

Most of my 'polarized hobby' was actually making Rx (prescription) polarised glasses.

The more reputable brands do make Cr-39 (resin) Polycarbonate or glass up to fairly high script strengths though GENERALLY only in single vision lenses.

If you are myopic (shortsighted) then single vision will work most times and keep the 'base curve' of the lens less than 8....6 or 4 is better.

Once you need readers, then bifocals or multifocals are needed and the flash mirror finishes, muticoating etc isn't as good or cannot be applied. You end up with a polarised lens without the extra coating perks.....goes with the more complicated lens unfortunately.....

Bun,

Good to see that you are at least keeping focused on the real issues of sight!

If you are like me and always drop your sunglasses, don't even bother about buying anything but reputable quality GLASS lens sunglasses. I got given a pair of poly carbonate lens glasses for Christmas and they were scratched within the first week of having them.

Spotters for me, Bronze Photochromic glass lens, just don't grind while wearing them or you will have real Spotters, like mine.

The Cancer Council sell a good range of polarised sunnies, good value and a good cause.

Maui Jim's for me....
The pair I am wearing now I've had for about 8 years, and they have been through hell... I lost my new pair, but these old ones still serve me better than any others I've tried.........

I HVE 3 PAIRS OF THE GRAND CATALINA ,THEY FIT WELL ,AND I DO NOT  HAVE A REALLY BIG HEAD,GO TO FRAMES DIRECT ONLINE THEY WILL HELP YOU ON SIZES,THEY UNREAL POLARISED GLASSES BUT BE SURE AND GET GLASS LENS,IN AMBER. ALL THE MIRRORS ARE AMBER.4 YEARS NO SCRATCHS.THE BIGGER LENS THE BETTER FIELD OF VIEW ALSO LESS BASE CURVE,LESS DISTORTION.STAY AWAY FROM POLYCRAB LENS.I AM THE SAME SIZE AS LUKE ,ASK WINGA.

Warwick,
I fish with a pair of Costa Del Mar Hammerheads and they are quite a big pair of sunnies,[leaning towards too big] so if the Permits look bigger you would need a fairly BIG head to wear them .

Quicksilver polarised sunnies have done me well for the last 5 years. probably the best(and only) thing my ex did for me was buying me a pair of these. :P
