Title: Ranfurly Banks trip 2012 (teaser pics added)
Post by: Mark Armistead on August 19, 2012, 12:42:22 PM
We are heading back down to the famous fishing grounds known as the Ranfurly Banks. This area is home to some of the biggest kingfish on the planet and fish of trophy size are encountered on most trips.
The Ranfurly banks also offers a unique opportunity to cast surface lures to huge kingfish, last year packs of massive kings were commonplace whilst casting stick baits.
Throw in massive Bass and huge Hapuka this all adds up to be the trip of a lifetime. Once again we will be heading out on the fine vessel Cascade skippered by one of the most experienced skippers in the area Mike Boswell.
The trip includes all of your food on board and lodging for 5 nights.

For those who need to purchase or hire gear for such a trip then I can organise this for you.

Hi Grahame
The trip leaves on the arfternoon of the 13th of December and returns on the 18th, 4 days of the maddest kingfish fishing you are likely to see.
Cost is $2600 nzd, this includes your food and is a live aboard trip so no accommodation reqd whilst fishing.
Cheers Mark

Hello from Germany,

thinking of going to NZ for such a trip with a friend but unfortunately my schedule for 2012 is too tight to make it on this trip. What would be the nearest airport to the starting point - Aukland?
What kind of rods and Jigs do you use? Thinking of a JM Three Kings 53S-H or 53S-M. I also have an XZOGA Taka SA-500 and 350.
Thanks a lot!

Robert

Confirmed...looking forward to it Mark, have wanted to fish the banks for years but never got organised - I wait until I'm 9000 miles away and then do it?

It will be awesome.. :)

Hi Sam
There is still currently two spots left mate, i have a few people looking at it but they are yet to commit. First in first served is how it works though.

Trip costs $2600 NZD and this includes 5 nights on the boat (4 days fishing) and includes all your meals as well.
Its pretty good value for what is easily one of the worlds best kingfish locations.
Give us a call Sam on 0275031115 if you want to have a chat about this trip.

Cheers Mark

Hi All

Still got a couple of spare places for this once in a lifetime trip.
Early reports coming in are all good with plenty of big fish around, by the time we get there this place will be on fire.

Cheers Mark

Hi Robert
That trip was put back a bit and we will end up heading down there in early March, i will post up a report then.
I did just do a trip there recently but this time i was working running the decks and not fishing, the group on that trip was hosted by Mogi San and the fishing was nothing short of amazing. Loads of 30 kg plus fish and fish in the 40 kg range were landed and many many were busted off.
I am running another couple of trips there in January next year, if you are interested drop me an email at [email protected] .
It is one trip any mad keen kingfihs angler should do in their life.
Cheers Mark
