I don't know for sure but I doubt anything material would have changed. Have you seen the price on them!?     :o

From what I have been told the difference is in the drag, being different material and "special" grease as well as moving away from bearings in the handle / ball to bushes which should be more reliable and stop us from ripping the ball of mid fight......... apart from that and the colour all else is the same, as far as I am aware.

I am sure Duncan can tell us more if required......

A mate of mine owns a tackle shop and said daiwa has put up there prices across the range by 20-30% so no surprise they're pushing 1500

yeah, i think most manufacturer's have had a price hike since new years. shimano have had a 10-15% rise as well apparantly.. at least thats what the local shop said. rapala x rap 25 being sold at close to $50 each, nearly double their original retail price.. maybe its just my local shop?? can anyone else confirm?? :o  :o ...

when you look at the devaluation of the AUD against the JPY, the price rises are not surprising.

Brandon, I'm sure you've heard of the term Oil's aint Oil's. I guess in this case Grease aint Grease hehehehe ;D

Hopefully the Aussie dollar will slowly improve as the year rolls on.

The difference between the S-extreme reels and the other Z models are as follows:

New gears (smoother, stronger)
New bearings (more corrosion resistant)
New drag (carbontex style material - no more stickiness on startup)
Bearing at the bottom of the handle stem replaced with bushing.

I've been lucky enough to play with one of the early production models for a while now and have had a lot of fun with it. The reels should be in store within the next few days. I'll post a few pics shortly

Cheers

Duncan

I'd be asking the question. I picked one up on the weekend for $25.
