Title: light popping reel - caldia kix custom?
Post by: Jordan Hack on January 21, 2009, 12:21:01 PM
I am looking at getting a light popping reel for small gts, reefies, tuna etc. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the above mentioned reel- particularly the 3500PE model. One store claims that it has the same gearing as the certates but for half the price, however i can't find any facts on the net anywhere to support this claim. Any views would be greatly appreciated

I gather it runs digigear while Certates run digigear 2 I think. Don't know what the difference is and then you have Hyper Digigear. I am looking at getting one myself. Been told that it is a very tough reel and more reliable than even the smaller Saltigas.

i ve experience w the freams 3500 and caldia 4000.

hi chance that apart from cosmetic, these reels and the 3500 PE are similar internally.

very value for money.

my freams 3500 loaded w PE2, survived jiggin in maldives, hookin several red bass and sweet lips up to 7kg.

my caldia 4000 caught several sails and mahi.

both reels are still pretty smooth, with minimal back-play.
