Title: Back from New Caledonia
Post by: jarrodday on April 26, 2009, 10:11:42 PM
Hey all, just got back from a 5 day adventure in New cal. Fished out of the southern Lagoon and managed some grwat fish. most taken on PE 8 but had the opportunity to try a lot of new gear.
Lost 6 lures overall, 4 of which were sinking stockbbaits for coral trout but busted off on snagging the reefs.

Gt's to 35kg, Green Jobfish, Red Bass, YFT, Coral Trout and the list continues.

great trip and already heading back next year for a 5day live aboard in the north, more untouched waters so i am told......

Went to NC with LPB in March this year - Southern Lagoon.
Fishing spectacular but did find my lack of French a bit of a problem - six people on board , 5 french speakers(3 crew and two other clients) and myself. Did detract a little from my enjoyment but a learning experience.

Graham , I find both Rudy and David speak English capably. Malcolm and I certainly have never had any communication problems whatsoever with either of them.

I don't think so, Mick, but you can always inquire!

Brandon - probably just to clarify - it detracted from the social aspect of the trip ; didn't impact on the fishing as david and rudy's english and my French were enough to communicate about fishing.

How did you end up on a group with other French clients?!

A long story but was not aware until after I had booked. Alexandre and Patrices English was better than my French but it did limit our interaction. Just a risk you take travelling by yourself !

that's why you need to come with your original group!

Rodrigues near Mauritius.

Big Doggie central... the man you wanna fish with is Yann Colas, Rod Fishing Club.... the current record of 104.5 kilos comes from here, on Yann's boat, taken on a Jig ( Tuna Maxx S47XXH, Stella 20K and 100lb Braid ) and numerous fish bigger have SMOKED anglers!!!

Slightly off topic, but a serious destination... If you coming all that way, it would be worth your while to pop over to Mainland Africa, and hit Tanzania for more GT's and Doggies...
