Title: Rarotonga
Post by: MikeOsborn on May 18, 2009, 09:03:32 AM
Just done a quick search and didn't come up with a whole lot of helpful info.

My old boy is too busy to accompany my mum to a conference in the Cook Is. so I have been given the call up for a free trip ;D

I did a bit of shore based stuff last time I was there in 02' but I am interested in any charter recommendations? or any tips in general for fishing round Raro, mainly interested in casting and jigging as I have spent most of summer trolling round watching bits of plastic pop behind the boat.

Any members care to share any cook island experiences they may have?

Cheers

Mike

I did some research on Aitutaki - which is a 30min flight from Roratonga. Its an outer island / atol of the Cook Islands that is renowned for Bone fish and GT'S on the flats. There is a guy there called Butch who specialises in sight fishing.  see attached link:

There is also some great accommodation on Aitutaki. Some of the best resorts in the south pacific.

Hope that helps. Rgds Antony
