Title: nomad setup?

hey guys, looking to go on nomad next year for the lagoon explorer in august and wondering what setup is recommended. Im about 65kg and am 5"8 if this helps at all. Im looking to get a stella sw 18000 with a saltiga muramura 76 and running about 100lb braid. Also have heard good things about the t curve gt special and for the extra price the gt 79 reversal is a good alrounder rod. would the  muramura be up to the task of nomad and casting stickbaits aswell as poppers?

any help is greatly appreciated

I would be buying the t-curve GT special way before the muramura.
The GT special can handle 100lb no problems while the muramura is a PE 6 rod...Possibly get away with PE 8.?....The GT special is also 8ft and the little extra length will help you with a tad more casting distance.

Mate the Muramura is a pretty tough stick, so is the GT special, these two are not really that forgiving on the angler!
Personally I would opt for the Ripple Fisher over both these for ease of use and all round performance on poppers and sticks

The GT special is a tough stick but nowhere near as nice to use as the 79R, I really enjoy using my 79R, it is great to cast with, easy on the angler during a fight, and will fish PE10

There is a big price difference but if I had my choice I would not even consider the GT special over the ripple fisher mate

You'll get away with PE8 on a Muramura but this rod is not really comparable with the GT special. They're different rods in different weight classes. The GT special will fish PE10 whereas the max for the Muramura is PE8.

if you're relatively new to the sport, you'll find the 79R a nice comfortable rod to fish with but it is also in a completely different price bracket to the other two rods.

You'll get away with any of the three rods on a lagoon explorer trip to a location like Bugatti but I think you'll find the Ripple the nicest rod to use of the three. If you're looking for a really nice rod to fish PE8 (100lb) with stickbaits and poppers up to about 150g, I'd also think about a Carpenter Coral Viper CV79 RF40. Nomad will almost certainly have stock of these before then.

 hi nathan

  another nice rod to consider could be the new yamaga atlas 76/8  from ripple fisher
  i have been using this the last couple of weeks running 100lb braid and stickbaits up to
  150gm comfortably, it casts really nicely and easy to use

  price is quite competetive too

If you are looing for a good powerfull stick for the same price roughly as a 79R,go the 79H,i have the Ripple Fisher 79H which is a PE12 rod and Gee its got some power,brutal stick....But definetly the GT special as well,softish tip with some but power!!
