Hi Guys, I went to Kadavu, Fiji to fish with Adrian Watt on his boat BITE ME. What an awsome place. Here are some photos of the first two fish of the trip. Adrian will probably do a report on whats being going on down his way.
First fish was on a Hammer Head I cup. Second fish, 5 casts later was on a Jai 150gm bait.
Stella 10000FA, 20000 spool.
Varivas PE 10
Zenaq Forkeeto trevally 83-7.
I would like to say thanks to all of you on this website, especially Brandon Khoo and Greg Burt. The knowledge that I have picked up in the past year helped me greatly in catching these two nice fish.

look's like your very happy with the end result, I would be to indeed.
a great effort in what i would say(though not speaking from experience)is good condition's.
I want to go on only my second ever GT Popping trip asap, I am itching to go.

Great stuff Shane, would love to see a full report from yourself or Adrian, am off to fish with him in January, can't wait
-
Mate some solid fish there, well done and some great pictures taken..
Did you get any by catches at all or any bust offs ?? :)
-
That's brilliant Shane... very nice fish!
Did you get just those 2 fish or was there more?
How many days did you go out with Adrian?
Cheers Rob

We fished 3 days in total, but only popped for 4-5 hours, as my fishing buddies consised of my girlfriend and her parents... Chased sails and did a bit of jigging, but all else was quiet. We ended up with 4 GT's, a Jobfish and a Red Bass on poppers. I didn't have any bust-offs, ran 100lb twisted leaders with either a fluro or wire bite leader. The Zenaq was a bit light for chucking those massive hammer heads, but 150gm Jai's and Cubera's flew well.
Matava Resort is an awesome place, I can't wait to get back there in the summer.

Good one Shane, sounds like the Zenaq met you expectations. I will be giving my one a run there in Feb/March with Peter Morris, your report is getting me 'chaffing at the bit'.
PS: Good to see you worked out the pics ;D

Right...Lets go Greg... ;D....tomorrow... :D :D
Great report Shane.
Fiji is a top place.

Hi guys,
Not much to report on the popper front at the moment. We are getting the usual windy winter weather with just the occasional nice day and most anglers coming at this time of year are here for the wahoo and sailfish on light tackle.
Its blowing 20kts and forecast to stay that way for a week.....That's why we tell popper and jig anglers to come in the summer !

some awesome fish there bud. I was there in feb of this year and we had an awesome time only prop I was underguned and and inexperienced so lost most of the oversized Gt's heading back next year with some proper gear and a little more experience so fingers crossed for the big ones.

Nice work, whats that orange popper i see there?
-
Where? Orange? What? I know I'm colour blind, but popper was black, and stick bait was blue.

I think its Shane's arm
