We did a trip up north of Yeppoon last weekend with some guys chasing red fish (nannygai).. Nannies were on the go and called it quits after only about 2 hours fishing. Did a bit of sight seeing along the coast around Pearl Bay.
I suggested trying to chuck poppers on the way home.
First spot nothing but second cast at next spot 3 GT's were fighting over the popper.
The GT put on a great show and was a bit bigger than average at 135cm. Released in good condition and headed home. Not a bad bycatch for reef fishing trip.[img]
One day I am going exclusive GT popping....

Nice work Graham, you've got to be happy with that! I will be back up once the weather gets a little warmer, maybe in October. Matt

Great fish Graham, I heard you guys also got onto some AJ's as well.

Hi Ken,
Yes 2 weekends ago Wandy came with us and he just loves jigging. They caught about 35 AJ's between 700 and 850 long, all released. Also caught some massive golden trevally, one had to be close to 20kg. There's video down at Barra Jacks. Also a few bits and pieces, tuna etc.
Couldn't convince them to stop and catch some reefies.
They still can't top the first exploratory trip we did last year (or was it the year before) where we reckon we cracked the ton on AJ,tuna and trevs.

Good work mate,great fish ;)

Scott,
I have attached a photo of nannies. Plenty of nice fish dinners for 6 people. Sorry about the photo, not one of my best.
We drove away from these guys, no need to take any more...still plenty for next time!
