Title: Brandon's "Monster Class" catch
Post by: Chris Tan on September 21, 2009, 04:10:54 PM
Everyone knows Brandon's monster class GTs. But when he asked me to bring him for Monster Class fishing in Singapore, Richard Foong and I decided to introduce him to something a little different.

Like Brandon always says, if it swims I want to catch it.

It started real slow as we couldn't get the hang of hooking these critters. We kept losing our catch to poor hook-ups and striking too hard (we are GT fisherman afterall!) The lady next to us was catching plenty before Brandon hooked up his 1st monster class creature. Boy was he happy. He even let the little fella pinch his finger.

We didnt do too well and luckily the owner of the place took pity on us and gave us a few to supplement our meagre catch and we had enough for a meal.

The little fellas kept Brandon entertained and there was enough eye candy nearby to pass the time. But I think we'll stick to GT fishing..... :P

Hey Chris - thanks heaps to you and Richard for taking me to catch those critters! It's a lot of fun and quite challenging trying to hook them. There is a real knack to it and I haven't got it. I'll have to try again some time!

They look a whole lot tastier than a GT, and I have never had that kind of scenery whilst GT fishing so well done!

Good monsters there Brandon! The big cuppers sure worked their magic again.  ;D

Chris,
Should have brought the man to the other 'monster' fishing over at the CNR pond.

Alex,
That area is in the eastern parts of Singapore and the pond started only a couple of years ago.

Nice cherabins Chris!

Prawn fishing itself is an artform - as with GT fishing there are Owner hooks, special rods, etc etc... and it can be very tricky to set the hook!

trying to set the hook is the hardest part! I had so many get away at that stage.
