Blessed with great weather myself and my fishing partner took off from townsville for a short trip to the wrecks to do some jigging, lucky i packed my popper rod as we didnt have much luck jigging. we headed out to a well known reef drop, when we got there i saw bait as far as the eye could see. i knew we were in for a gt or two, 3rd cast i hooked up to my first fish, roughly 25kg going by previous catches as i didnt have scales. not bad to start the day, casts later i had a good follow and he struck the popper with no hook up. after about 15min later i found myself getting pulled against the sides of the boat again, this one wasnt as big as the first one, around the 20kg mark. As i blew a hole in my gloves on the casting finger and the avro winds were starting to come in we took off home.

thanks guys, yes the morning couldnt have been better, winds did pick up to 10-15knots on the way back home tho. it was just myself casting poppers, would have like to have more on board casting as i think alot more fish could have been caught that day with more poppers in the water and more time spent out there.
cant go past the cyclone for a small reef boat stephen
