Title: Remote East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia
Post by: Chris Tan on October 07, 2009, 07:39:34 PM
A few friends and I re-visited this remote location, hoping to get a monster class gt. Unfortunately all the monsters were not home and we had to contend with smaller gt bullies.

Logistics are a pain in such remote areas but the gts there are one of the strongest I've encountered. Rods used were Carpenter WV, EXH, TBL; Ripple Fisher 79H and Zenaq Pe8 and 10. Chuggers worked best with hammerheads, craftbaits and kaisar (or heru or nomad, depending where you're from) poppers accounted for most of the gts.

Mark's fish is definitely bigger. I'm sure there are big GTs in those remote Indo spots but getting there and getting back can be tricky......

Hi Chris ,

Anyone going to Alor should include somebody who has been there , airline connections are tricky . Did you spend an overnight in JKT on the way to Alor ?

Hi Brandon ,

Once upon a time it was easier , Darwin - Kupang n then Kupang to Kalabahi but since the flight between Darwin n Kupang has been terminated , the easiest for you guys from Australia is to go to Bali first and then to Kupang .

I have never had any of my fishing buddies refusing to do stopover in Bali on they way and/or on the way out , the surest thing every of by buddies does is to have 2 hrs. massage after the trip . ;D

thanks John
it is much further than for me to go to Hamilton Island for floatplane or Noumea. Still, will be interesting try fishing there at some point.
