Title: Sambo city
Post by: Eric Tai on November 25, 2009, 12:29:31 AM
Hi all,

Finally managed to get out on my first sambo jigging charter today (skippered by Craig from Saltwater charters WA). Conditions were great, calm, small swell.

After a 1.5hr boat ride out we arrived at the spot and dropped our jigs. The sambos were everywhere on the sounder and boy were they hungry. Almost every drop got smashed and we were all dancing up and down the side of the boat untangling lines and trying to land our fish. At one point a friendly shark (?mako or white pointer) came and took a few of the fish.

Everyone got stuck into some fish and had a ball. One experienced angler managed 20+ fish, I managed 6 which was probably close to what most people averaged. Will definately go again, now I just need to buy some of my own gear (the 'tufftackle' reels they had on board were pretty crap).

Nice work there Eric, the sambo's season should  be just starting to get into full swing now.
The water conditions look great, it's an all too rare occurrence here in Perth!!

Nathan,

I'll PM you about the tufftackle reels. The guy who distributes the stuff lurks on a couple of the Aust. fishing forums.
