For you Brisbanites, check out the 52kg fish caught at Hutchinson Shoal in today's Sunday Mail (page 75). Great fish but damn pity the angler felt the need to kill a fish of this size.
-
Brandon do you have a pic that you can scan & put on this site for the southern people?
-
I heard on the grapevine that fish was caught on a trolled marlin pusher rig.
-
Here is a picture of the fish.
Looks like a genuine 50kg fish....Shame to see it dead.
-
If it was on a marlin pusher rig, well it doesn't count.
Pitty the guy didn't cut his hands the way he is holding it.
-
Dosent count Brockie have you tried to cast one of those things let alone try and work it!!!!!!
-
Damn shame to see it hangin' up like that :'(.
-
Yep, they sure are active at present, a few good ones around with the bigger tides - It is a real shame to see such a beauty dead..... :'(

I wouldn't be suprised if caught on 8kg line (standard light marlin tackle in most parts of Australia) that it was taken for a crack at a record claim.
There was a 35-36kg model caught in W.A years ago that was the 8kg world record.
Perhaps that was his motive??
I haven't followed the story enough to fully understand the desire for weighing the GT, though this would be one.
