Title: Samson Jigging Sunday the 13th
Post by: Anthony Robinson on December 15, 2009, 07:09:28 PM
A couple of months back we booked in with local Charter company to head out jigging for Samson Fish. It was the first time jigging for 10 out of the 12 blokes on the trip, with a great range of fishing expereince amoungst the group.

We had a great day with 50 - 60 fish boated for the day, a 7 foot bronze whaler also taking a liking to one of the jigs, and only a few bust offs and tangles resulting in lost jigs. All in all a great day with everyone landing at least 2 fish each, average size being very good at around 20kgs with a couple of monsters one particular beast estimate at 45kg

I used my Saltiga 6000Gt loaded with 80lb Tufline and V-fox T Blade PE8-10, which handled the job very well, the fish were really thick which meant they hit just about anything. 300g R2S knife jigs did the job very nicely.

Cheers Anthony

Great work Anthony, it looks like a fishy time was had by all. I'm glad to see your recently acquired gear is being put to good use.  ;)

Thanks Matt, it was great to finally use my gear, the Salitga landed over 10 fish for the day, and handled it with ease really happy with it. good quality gear really pays for itself in terms of durability I guess.

Heading up to Dirk Hartog Island for 7 days over Christmas and then Samoa for all of next year so my gear and my arms should continue to get a good work out I hope

Cheers Anthony
