Title: 'FG' knot for casting big lure
Post by: MK-Lee on July 02, 2007, 08:05:45 PM
I'm currently using FG knot for heavy leader. It has the most minimum friction when casting.

[it needs time to practice, quite difficult and skillful]

Sorry guys!
I forgot to post the link :D

http://www.sunline.co.jp/tester/salt/satou/fg.html

I just want to share somethings I think it is good for you.
It is the best knot. (just my personal opinion)

(I really want to try the Twisted knot, but it seems very complex, actually I don't understand the instruction(I'm no good in English) If there is a video tutorial for the twisted knot, that will be more easy for the beginner like me.

Do any popper fishermen out there use a PR knot for popping? Looks pretty similar to an FG knot, but longer.

I use nothing but the PR for jigging now, but I heard something about the knot being too long or unravelling or something when used for popping. Cant remember exactly. Sounded somewhat like an old wives tail but can any of the gurus comment?

Cheers
Ben

thank you very much!
I know what is it now ;D

But an other question pop-out from my head.

If use twisted leader for casting big lure, will it too much fiction?

because I use about 3-4m long leader for casting big lure. Too short will be useless, too long will cause fiction and resistance of wind.

Does it used for double leader? 300lb+150lb+130lb PE ?

I use it all the time for Jigging as well ben but it didnt like going through the guides when I tried it on my spinning reels for poppers. Prob easier to do a bimini :-\

Hmmmmm, thanks for that Mike. I guess it will have a bit more memory with the leader running through it. Stick to the twisty then, not that that is a bad thing  ;)
