How long have you been GT Fishing ?
-
First trip was in 1995!
How time flies.......
At least the gear has improved dramatically!

10 years. Long way from the Ugly Stick and Spinfisher with 30lb mono days
-
About 10 years also. Started with 8lb braid and little surecatch type poppers up against the mangroves. Seems like a lifetime ago. But hooked more than ever now.
-
Caught my first one spinning the rocks in late 89-90.
Back then I made an FSU5120 spin stick and hung a Penn 850 spinfisher and 30lb mono off it. Used to throw fat rs and homemade broom stick pencils at them.
Then in 92 I had my first encounter with decent size fish at Bustard Head and 1770. Got smoked more often than not and lost a lot of gear :-[, but had to keep doing it didn't I ;D

Some nice Gt's at Bustard Chris.....good for LB spaniards also.
My first encounters with Big GT's were LB in the Whitsundays.....Frustrating was the word with many follows and shy aways.

Funny you say that Peter because it all started while chasing spaniards from the stones. I remember I used to respool all the time because of line twist :'( Also used big singles because the trebles were $hit
Used to see the odd big fish down the Goldy too, never hooked one though.

1987 and still the biggest Ive been involved with, spent 7 years in the 90's casting poppers for kings as a commercial fisherman, now thats a dream job!!
