Hi
Can anyone tell me what is the differences between Power Pro braid & Spiderwire
Which one is more popular or
what would you prefer?
Thanks
-
I can't comment on Spider Wire
I used 80 pound power pro on my last trip, it's good line.
-
Power Pro works
-
Basically.
Power Pro is usable on Overheads.
Fireline for those eggbeaters. A lot stiffer.
Mack

The 'new' Spiderwire Stealth is vastly different to the original Spiderwire, it is a good fine braid but I had trouble with birdnests on bait casters in the 10 and 20lb range [maybe it was just me].
-
After running out of Varivas PE6 the other day I spooled up with some 65lb Power Pro at work - I'm very happy with it as a no worry alternative. Always overtests and the diameter is good! The line feels coarse but will supple up and cast or cut through the water with ease.
PP can easily be used on overhead AND THREADLINE!
-
After buying PP in 30, 50 & 65 test I happened on a number of comments/reviews suggesting that quality control was lacking and that it was unreliable. That was several years ago and I've since used it for lighter work jigging, popping, stickbaiting, casting and trolling, all on Twinpower FCs. Never had a problem with it - I must have stumbled on a good batch!!

I tried the new Power Pro rated at 53 lbs, very nice line, caught two YFT with it, one was 43 LBS & the other was 39 LBS. I ordered the new PE6 now. I also ordered Spiderwire Ultra Cast. There is a new cheap priced Varivas braid called Super PE line, I just spooled my Stella SW10000 using their PE6.
-
Super PE is by Sunline.
I've been using the Daiwa Saltiga Boat Braid for jigging for a little while now, and its great! Made in Japan, 8 ply, colour-metered, overtests (PE4/0.36mm/55lb) and an 1800m spool comes in at about a third of the price of varivas big one.
The PE3/40lb is 8 ply too, but they PE6/80lb is probably a little fatter than varivas, more a PE7. They also have a casting version, I have some of that on order to try.

Hi Khaled,
I'd be interested to hear some more feedback on the performance on the varivas Super PE you have spooled up with, good price and similar thickness to the more expensive varivas offerings!

Super PE is by Sunline.
Varivas also makes a "Super PE"
-
Really? They do have a lot of offerings then these days, I had a hard enough time keeping up when it was Big One, Tuna and 10x10.
