I'm heading out to bare rock (Dampier Archipelago) tomorrow for a fish. It is a big rock that comes out of the water and drops to 30-35m very quickly. It often has waves breaking on exposed reef sections on the North-Western side. Looks like a spot where you could get decent GT's. I'm going to give popping and jigging a go and see if I can get anything decent.
Last time I was there I got a queenie, golden trev and a gold spot trev on jigs. The shallow sandy area on the southern side is a know spot for big Queenies. Didn't try poppers the last time I was there.
Will post a report tomorrow afternoon if there's anything worth reporting ;D

Unfortunately there was a change of plans at the last minute. We headed out to Hamersley Shoal and Cape Legendre, the latter of which is a known GT spot but I didn't get to chuck poppers like I'd hoped. Being my mates boat he was was quite happy bottom bouncing in deeper water so I decided to jig. After losing my favourite jig to a mackie I got shitty and started to bait fish. It was a really quiet day, only getting a couple of small snapper and a gold spot trevor. The highlight of the day was seeing a couple of huge manta rays and sight casting a stick bait to a huge free swimming spaniard which inhaled the stick bait. Unfortunately I didn't stay connected for long.
Here is a spot I took a photo of on the way home. Looks like a good spot for GT's. There'll be plenty of time to explore Bare Rock and more once I've got my own boat, can't wait!
