I just wanted pepoles opinions here. I have been using Owner Cultiva Gloves for the past few years and am now up to my forth pair. I find that after a trip, the stitching tears on both the wrist rim and in the palm.
I am just wondering are other anglers finding similar traits from other glove brands???
-
Jarrod - are you saying that you do in a pair of gloves each trip??
-
I have found Fisherman & Smith gloves to be the most functional and enduring.
-
My favorites are the Fisherman gloves. From my experience, I have found them to be the best constructed.
I find a pair of gloves lasts me anything up to a dozen trips.
-
I use Smith gloves, have a pair that have done a lot of trips with me and been loaned out to mates on other trips, I don't think they will last too much longer but I will wear them till they die because they fit so well. I have a second pair that have only been wet a couple of times because I like the worn ones better (because they don't squeak) ;)
Have not tried other brands....mostly because of my big mitts ::) Would like to try some Fisherman but I need to try them for size before I commit.
Brandon do they have equivalent to Smith size 3LLL ???

I have only used Jigging Master gloves in the past and they seem to be holding up well after a dozen or so jigging trips and also a few land based trips.
-
Used the Shout ones on my last trip and have actually just packed them again. ;D
Nice gloves.
After that Im seeing Coxy for some Jigging Master ones. 8)

big fan of the smith gloves they have the perfect fit for my hands (after a slight modification) and extremely durable would have got over 40 days out of my last pair !!
Tried the cultiva gloves on a couple of occasions once they only lasted one weekend before i wore a hole in the palm
in saying that they weren't a perfect fit so the rubbing would have had a fair bit to do with that
a mate that i fish with uses the cultivas they fit him perfectly can still only get a dozen days out of them
Cheers

I have been using the ZENAQ gloves for popping and jigging ,for about 6 months now ,and they are very good .no problems with them at all .just wash will fresh water when the at days end.
-
I use Owner Cultiva gloves and havenot had any issues. My fishing crew use Zest and they have been great too. Tried Xzoga but they were too small.

Brandon, YES. Although I still wear them, I have done a pair on each trip. I have found that once they get wet the stitching becomes soft and with continuing casting and pressure up on them from holding on tight to the rod the join between thumb and pointing finger wears. Also, the rim as I mentioned in original post tears apart.
I do like the gloves and they are very comfortable but just wondering if anybody has found a similar trait with other brands.
-
Jarrod, give the Smiths or Fisherman a go. They're very well constructed and you may find they hold together better than the Cultivas. They are a fair bit more expensive though
-
Where would one find some Smiths or Fishermans in a range of sizes Brandon? Preferably in Aus.
-
Brandon, thanks for that and same to all who commented.
-
Smiths are reasonably available. I'm sure Fishhead stock them. Fisherman are a bit more of a problem - easiest to get them from somewhere on the internet like Saltywatertackle

Duncan uses the Zenaq gloves and they cop a hiding and are still going strong. The rule in my house is if it can't survive use and then going through the washing machine then it has no place in the kit (goes for clothes, gloves, hats etc) . Figure there is more to life than laundry. Having said that I always say to customers they should hand wash them and take better care of their gear than we do. In our kit we currently have Zenaq, Smith, Saltiga and Patriot gloves. In Duncan's case it is usually the Zenaqs - in my case it is which ever colour co-ordinates with my rod and what I am wearing ;)

I also recommend the fisherman gloves, I have had a pair for about 3 years that have done various trips and days fishing.
