Title: Matava Fiji . 1 week fishing .
Post by: Marc Alexander on June 27, 2010, 11:53:49 AM
Hello just to let you know the flwg ;

my partner ~G~ did go with some from our Brazilian customers and New zealand friends for 1 week in Kadavu @ Matava resort .
javascript:void(0);
The weather was nice and nothing special to say on the resort .

On contrary the fishing results were as none ..ridiculous . very few baby GT`s and very small Doggies were caught less than 15 lbs.  ( only 1 big was lost by ~G~ 10 meters away from the boat..).

the fishing was so disappointing that they decide to cancel the last day fishing .

it seems that if some good results were achieved in the past ..going each time to exact same fishing spot around the resort does not help to get nice fishes. >:(

that is a fair short report.. :o

I'm finding it a little hard not to read between the lines of this report.

I would say the fishing experienced was unusual for the destination.

I read in one of your previous posts, Quote:
'Sorry i will not inform from exactly where are those spots located in French Polynesia ..
we prefer to save the fishes than to inform all the angling planet from where exactly it is.'

seems a little hypocritical!

This can just be called "FISHING"... Sometime you catch, sometime you don't... But I don't think it is good reason enough to blame the resort or the way the guides fish this particular area...  ;)

 Plenty of BIG fish in that area but fish do not bite their heads off 24/7/365.
That's fishing.

We fish the Kadavu area a lot and the fishing is usually excellent! Like anywhere sometimes you have to work harder than others but its a fantastic destination. This site has images of BIG Kadavu GT's in plenty of posts!

We also swing buy Matava resort occaisionaly, i have found it comfortable, the food is good, the staff are very friendly and entertaining, they dont market the resort as five star.

I would actually consider fishing with Golden Eagle who are a sponsor here!

They also fish Kadavu as well as manyother parts of Fiji for monster GT, doggies and yellowfin.

Personally, I will never fish Matava ever. So it's good to know there are other options out there like GE.
