Went out with a local charter company today to see how the aggregations were going, normally it is still abit early but suprised to find good schools, however the sharks are ridiculous. Lost aprox 20 jigs and only landed one for the boat in an hour. Left them too it not worth fishing and not good for the aggs if the fish are getting mauled.
-
Which aggregation and charter was that?
I've hit the north barge a few times, but so far ambos and rat sambos and no sharking.
-
started off at north barge for zip and then headed to the patch. Went out with mills on a staff training day so the new crew got to see the gear in action and how to propally release fish.
-
wow...20 jigs, that hurts!!
-
Who really cares about the jigs? Thats 20 fish gone. Pity it too that many before the mills skippers stopped testing.

Unfortunately it appears that particular charter has a reputation for that kinda thing. :-\

That is very disappointing to say the least. Unfortunately, with the demersal bans, I don't see this behaviour abating with some charters. >:(
-
Oh its not just charters.
Someone was bragging on FW just yesterday that they lost a lot of fish to sharks, but unlike their mate, they only lost one jig.
-
I went to the Hillary's patch yesterday. Unsure how Mills even managed to get the sambos to bite? They're aggressive feeders, for sure, but the sharks were more aggressive, and then some.
-
We were hooking more sharks on jigs than sambos.
