Hi All .I was reading an article today that stated that the world record for a GT  was 72 kilo's set on May 22 . 2006 .  The article stated that the fish was caught on a Maggy Gara  Marlin stick bait 130Gram x250 Floating model .   Is this fact or fiction ,

Thanks Greg , What I'm trying to find out is the lure used to catch this monster as it states in the article The lure used was a marlin model stick bait MAGGY GARA . 130 GRAM .X 250MM LONG .

I've heard of several different lures used for the capture - so I'm not sure what is correct or not.

Here's a very interesting account of the capture on the angler's personal blog (for those who, like my wife, can read Japanese)... sounds like an epic tussle, and truly worthy of a place in the record books. Also, pics of the gear used...
